Connect Biennial Conference – Tuesday

Today at Conference…

Connect’s third Biennial Conference got underway at 4pm this afternoon, carrying the following items of business:

Prop 7 Organising in Ericsson (Vodafone Regional Operations North & South)

Prop 10 Continuous monitoring of office workers (Greater London East & Essex)

Prop 11 National Minimum Wage (Young Professionals Network)

Prop 12 Anti-BNP (Young Professionals Network)

Immediately prior to the debate on the Anti-BNP proposition, Conference held a minute’s silence in memory both of Alan Greenwood, former Connect EC member and serving member of the Conference Business Committee at the time of his death last year, and all those who had fought fascists and was dedicated to the cause of world peace. Conference also elected a new Executive Council and held an informal, private session on the future of the union.

The Young Professionals Network, in particular, is to be congratulated on the success of their motions – the first time that the Network has put business to Conference.
